Symptoms of hearing loss

If you suspect you are experiencing hearing loss, consider these questions:

  • Do you often ask others to repeat themselves?

  • Do you turn up the TV or radio louder than others prefer?

  • Is it particularly difficult to understand conversation when there is background noise?

  • Does it often seem as though others are mumbling when they speak to you?

  • Do you have difficulty following group conversations?

  • Do you find it difficult to identify from which direction sounds are coming?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may have a hearing loss.

A Warm Welcome and a Conversation About You

Your journey begins with a friendly consultation. Our RHIP will take the time to get to know you—your hearing concerns, daily challenges, and personal goals. Do you struggle to follow conversations in noisy settings? Is television volume becoming a point of contention? This discussion helps us understand the context of your hearing health.

Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation

    • Otoscopy: A quick visual inspection of your ears to check for any blockages or issues, such as wax buildup or infection.

    • Pure Tone Audiometry: This involves listening to tones through headphones and indicating when you hear a sound. It helps determine the softest sounds you can detect at various pitches.

    • Speech Testing: You'll repeat back words spoken at different volumes. This helps us understand how well you process speech in different environments.

    • Tympanometry: If needed, we may assess the movement of your eardrum to ensure there’s no underlying middle-ear problem.

Discussing the Results

Once your hearing test is complete, your RHIP will explain the results in detail, using easy-to-understand terms. We’ll review your audiogram—a visual representation of your hearing levels—and discuss how your hearing compares to the average range. If a hearing loss is detected, we’ll identify its type and severity.

Personalized Recommendations

If hearing aids are recommended, we’ll guide you through the options. At Carter Hearing, we pride ourselves on offering bespoke solutions tailored to your needs. Our RHIPs consider factors like your lifestyle, the environments you navigate daily, and your budget to recommend hearing aids that are just right for you.

The Fitting Process

A great hearing aid isn’t just about technology—it’s about fit. Our RHIPs ensure your hearing aids are custom-programmed to suit your unique hearing profile. From the moment you put them on, you’ll experience the clarity and comfort you deserve. Adjustments are made based on your feedback to ensure you’re completely satisfied.
